What Is The Difference Between The Hormones That A Woman Makes (Biological) And Synthetic Hormones?

Pharmaceutical companies and many medical doctors have tried in the past to convince women that the synthetic hormones made by pharmaceutical companies are properly replacing a woman’s deficient hormones.
The following illustration shows the differences between the molecular [chemical] structures of a woman’s estrogens and two of the synthetic estrogens in Premarin. The differences are shown in red.
- Human Estrogens
- Synthetic Estrogens
The following tables show the amounts of each type of estrogen that a woman’s body makes, and the estrogens that are found in Premarin [Pregnant Mare Urine].
- Human Estrogens
- Premarin [Synthetic]
- Estrone [E1]
- 10 - 20%
- Estrone
- 75 - 80%
- Estradiol [E2]
- 10 - 20%
- Estradiol & Others
- 5 - 10%
- Estriol [E3]
- 60 - 80%
- Equilin
- 6 - 15%
Because it does not have the same types and amounts of estrogen as the estrogens in a woman’s body, Premarin can cause many different symptoms and health problems. Some of the health problems that Premarin has caused in women who have taken it are:
- Gallstones
- Blood clots
- Headaches
- Leg cramps
- Fluid retention
- Vaginal bleeding
- Breast tenderness
- High blood pressure
- Nausea and vomiting
- Impaired glucose tolerance
- Worsened uterine fibroids and endometriosis
- Increased risk of endometrial cancer and breast cancer

Progesterone
The following illustration shows the differences between the molecular [chemical] structures of a woman’s progesterone and a synthetic progesterone. The differences are shown in red.
Depo–Provera IM [medroxyprogesterone acetate] is an example a synthetic progesterone [called a progestin] made by a pharmaceutical company, and injected into a woman’s muscle every 3 months as a form of birth control.
Some of the health problems that Depo–Provera has caused in women who have taken it are:
- Acne
- Skin rash
- Breast cancer
- Fluid retention, swelling
- Impaired glucose tolerance
- Weight gain and depression
- Breast tenderness and milk production
- Hair loss, or unwanted facial hair growth
- Birth defects [if Provera was taken when a woman was pregnant]
- Breakthrough bleeding or other menstrual irregularities
- The formation of blood clots, especially in the lung or the brain
